Munnar hills is situated at an altitude of 5000 to 8000 Ft. above sea level. And is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India - Anamudi, which towers over 2695m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking.
Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands in Munnar is the Neelakurinji
(Strobilanthes kunthiana). It last bloomed in the year 2018 and attracted large crowd to Munnar. It happened after an interval of 12 years and the hills around Munnar were blanketed with Kurinji flowers. This flower which bathes the hills in the blue every twelve years, will bloom next in 2030 AD.
